Client: Night Lights Event

Shoot Duration: 3 Days

Overview: I was hired to capture the enchanting Night Lights Event, a lantern festival held in Utah as part of a series of festivals taking place across the United States. My role encompassed both ground-level and aerial videography, with a strong focus on highlighting the diversity of the event's attendees. Using a Sony FX3 and DJI Mini 3 Pro drone, I documented the magical atmosphere, from the glowing lanterns to the lively festival activities.

Responsibilities:

• Travel & Setup: Traveled to Utah and coordinated with the social media team to align on the creative direction and content goals for the event.

• Videography & Creative Execution: Captured the essence of the festival through a combination of dynamic gimbal shots, woman-on-the-ground style shooting, and aerial footage. I focused on showcasing diversity, including LGBTQ+ couples, to represent a broader demographic in the final content.

• Authenticity & Recreated Moments: Focused on capturing genuine interactions while also recreating moments by directing participants to ensure every shot conveyed the love and joy of the event.

• Extreme Low-Light Shooting: Worked under challenging low-light conditions, utilizing the world-renowned low-light capabilities of my professional-grade Sony FX3 to ensure the magic of the lanterns and evening festivities was beautifully captured without compromising on quality.

• Comprehensive Event Coverage: Provided nonstop coverage, documenting every aspect of the festival, from campfires, s'mores, and food vendors to grandstand musicians, games, and market stalls. Additionally, I captured behind-the-scenes footage for a cinematic short film TV ad, which was filmed day 3 after the event in the surrounding areas of Salt Lake City.

• File Organization & Delivery: Organized, edited, and delivered the final video files in a timely manner, ensuring they were ready for use across social media and promotional platforms.

My approach to this project was defined by a commitment to capturing the love and joy that infused the festival, with a special focus on inclusivity and diversity. By maintaining clear communication and providing creative direction, I ensured that the final content was not only visually stunning but also resonated deeply with the client's new target demo.
